Fox Glacier – Fox is a town with colorful people. You can use a small trail, at night, in the town, to walk to view the glow-worms. You can ride a bike to the stunning nearby Mattheson Lake. If you want, you can do an amazing overnight hike to Welcome Flat Hut on the Copeland Track.
If you go for two nights, continue on to the next hut on the track.
For a full day hike at Fox Glacier, the cost (as of 01 November 2005) is: $99.
For a heli-hike at Fox Glacier: $265.
To see the glow-worms, take a walk through Franz Josef Glacier. If you visit Whataroa, you can kayak, take a jet boat ride, or you may even be able to see white herons — depending on the time of year.

Heli-hike at Franz Josef Glacier is approximately $320
The Franz Josef full-day hike includes an extremely steep climb with towering columns of ice on all sides. On the good days, you can obtain some fantastic views when you look over the glacier. As you walk through the ice pinnacles you feel as if you where in the glacier. They have no caves but they do have thin passages.
Take a Heli-hike on the Fox Glacier, to spend a relaxing day. They fly you over the Fox and then you are taken to the level portion of the glacier. That ice column feeling does not surround you. There are some little tunnels and caves located in the Fox Glacier.
Use the Fox Glacier for a Heli-hike, and try the Franz Josef for a hike for an entire day.
The guides advise travelers that the glaciers change on a weekly basis, meaning your view will change every time you go.
