Anyone ever been to Oamaru, New Zealand?

I'm looking at houses in Oamaru and they seem to be a very cheap compared to the rest of the country.

It's because there are few jobs around the area and the only thing exciting in the town is the penguin colony.

Go there every 26th of September for Dominion Days. Timaru and South Cantebruy are the only places closed on that day. Played a few gigs at some parties in Oamaru a few years back; great town but maybe i'm biased because I have family there.

It's definitely and older population that lives in the town; I guess it could be classifieds as a retirement community. As soon as the young people get out of school they move away and go to university. It's a pretty good place if you wan to relax; it's really an old town.

I've driven through Oamaru may a times but have never stopped. They got a blue penguin colony just on the outskirts of town; I really should stop and see them one of these days.
